Use the following guidelines to establish a successful labor-management partnership:
- Include an equal number of labor and management members
- Establish an environment that respects and values all employees
- Have a willingness to share power
- Retain respect and trust for all
- Foster open and candid sharing of information
- Encourage joint decision-making through consensus
- Commit to and have patience with the partnership for the long haul
- Cooperate despite disagreements on specific issues
- Believe the partnership will lead to a more effective organization
- Identify and solve problems jointly to better serve customers and achieve mission
